THE BASICS

I live in Durant, IA which is just outside the Quad Cities.

I am primarily a Quad Cities wedding photographer, though am willing to travel.
I photograph all over Iowa: Davenport, Bettendorf, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, etc.
And I travel to these places in Illinois: Moline, Rock Island, Chicago, etc.

I also travel here: ANYWHERE! Take me on an adventure, I need it - I have three kids!

ABOUT MY LIFE

I'm a mom of three.
In chronological order, their names are: Gavin, Chloe, and Micah.
One is in middle school, one is in grade school, and one is still in diapers.

Okay, we're going to get a little sappy now, so I've warned you:
Everything I do, I do for them. These guys are my whole world and I have worked really really hard to be available to them but also be able to support them at the same time. Every sacrifice I make, my whole world, revolves around these three amazing kids.

I would not trade being a mom for anything, I love the mom life!

I'm also engaged to a wonderful man named Jacob.
He's so supportive of me and he always believes that things will work out, he's the constant voice of reassurance that no matter what battle we are facing we will conquer it together. He's extremely patient and has helped me to be a more patient person myself.

P.S. Writing is another passion of mine, so prepare for paragraphs. <3
(I divided them in to sections so that it's not too overwhelming!)

ODD FACTS/THINGS I LOVE:

I love the 90's.
Actually, I believe the 90's were the best ever: Flannel, ripped jeans, grunge music, 90's sitcoms, and when MTV actually made sense that it was short for "music television".

Tony Robbins and Oprah Winfrey.
Do I need to say more here? They're amazing!

I love to write, I actually have always wanted to be a writer. Who knows, maybe someday.

I can draw portraits of people. (For real!)

Favorite movie: True Romance.
"You're so cool. You're so cool. You're so cool."

Favorite TV Show: Gilmore Girls!
"Oi with the poodles already!"

Favorite Character on a TV Show: Dean Winchester.

Favorite Book: Hells Angels by Hunter S. Thompson

A LITTLE STORY ABOUT HOW I BECAME A PHOTOGRAPHER

I'm old enough (33) to say that my first camera was a Polaroid and it was an original Polaroid with the original film. I took this thing with me everywhere and I made my friends take pictures with me incessantly, despite that every photo had to be well thought out because you only got 10 pictures out of one package of film. Needless to say I was often begging for more film.

When I was in High School, we were in the beginning stages of modern technology and vast accessibility. I photographed on film cameras until around 2002 when I got my first digital camera which was the worst camera in the history of ever. I taught myself photo-manipulation on GIMP (a free editing software by Linux) and would create scenes/collages, etc.

I graduated in 2003 from a tiny, little town, in Minnesota.
My family and I moved to Iowa and I started college in 2004. During this time I took every art class I could possibly take in one semester (I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil) and this included photography. We photographed in film and developed our own photographs in a dark room.

However, I am 100% self-taught when it comes to photography other than being taught how to develop film.

In 2009, one lovely tax season, I bought myself a Nikon D80.
Which in hindsight, I wish I hadn't parted ways with, because they do NOT build cameras like they used to.

I bought the camera because my son was two years old at the time and I really just wanted better pictures of him. So I would take pictures of him whenever I had spare time and post them to social media.

Being that I had been around cameras for a while and had already begun manipulating the settings on previous digital cameras, I guess I was a decent photographer and people began asking if I could photograph their children too.

So, I did.

In 2010 I photographed my first wedding.
Although, to be fair, I probably shouldn't have that early in to my career - if only we knew then what we know now: photographing weddings REQUIRES experience.

In 2012 I quit my full-time job and pursued photography full-time.
I have worked for myself ever since.
